The Short Game Blues

Submitted by Stan Utley on 08/28/2009 – 1:58 PM2 Comments

More and more my amateur students love to focus on the long ball. But, that’s not the most important route to good scoring. I know there are plenty of grippers and rippers out there who pound the cover off the golf ball, but oftentimes they just can’t seem to get the ball up-and-down once they get around the green. They get hyped up about distance off the tee, but they forget about the “touch” needed to score low.

Here is quick short game tip on YouTube that I shot at Grayhawk Golf Club. I hope this will help some of those short game blues disappear.

We’re working on some neat ideas to bring the videos from my most recent book, The Art of the Swing, to other media forms. This most recent of my 4 books included some interactive scanning technology that make the videos playable right on a Smartphone. For those without a smartphone, my team is working through some ideas that have come in from readers just like you. Thanks for following me on the website. We’ll try to announce something soon.

Like the YouTube videos but wonder if there are any DVD/CD sets available on your short game and putting material. Have both books but I am a better visual learner than read-and-try learner.

Love the philosophy but struggle with application on the course. Thanks. AD
