Changes

I'm excited to announce a new chapter in my coaching career. As of April 1, I'll be the new Director of Instruction at Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth—the legendary home of Ben Hogan for 40 years. The club has recently gone through an incredible renovation led by U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the club's future. It has an amazing short course right in the middle of the property that's pretty much a dream scenario for me to teach short game. It's an honor to be teaching at Mr. Hogan's home, and an incredible completion of a circle that started during my playing career. Fort Worth was always my favorite stop in the season, and one of my fondest memories of those weeks was visiting Shady Oaks and meeting Mr. Hogan.

It seems like only yesterday that I made the transition from playing to coaching full time, but it was 21 years ago when I was fortunate to be welcomed to the practice tee at Grayhawk in Scottsdale. Paul Trittler ran the golf schools there at the time, and as a fellow Missouri native, he and I were friends. He welcomed me with open arms, and getting legendary coach Peter Kostis' blessing to teach alongside him there was a key moment in my career. I'll always be grateful for the wonderful experience I’ve had at Grayhawk, and I cherish all the friends, colleagues, and students I've spent time with at the amazing practice facilities there along the way.

I'll be heading to Fort Worth soon, and also continuing my regular visiting coach stops around the country and summer residency at Maroon Creek in Aspen. As we get closer to fall, there will be some availability to book non-member lessons at Shady Oaks. Please reach out if you're interested in private instruction and we can make a plan.
