“Of the one million–plus dependents adversely affected by deployments, nearly nine out of 10 do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Since 2007, the Folds of Honor has carried forth this singular, noble mission. To close the gap, providing educational support to spouses and children of America’s fallen and wounded soldiers.”
Over Memorial Day weekend, I played in the Folds of Honor Patriot Cup Invitational. I was very honored to be part of the event, and I appreciated the chance to understand the Folds of Honor Foundation and how they are committed to changing the future of America’s families who have lost a family member in the military.
Major Dan Rooney started this foundation to pay tribute to American soldiers, and he is dedicated to providing educational opportunities to their families. The folded flag is a constant reminder of those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
All of us have opportunities to help other people, but when you have a following as a celebrity like many of us golfers do, our platform is a little bigger and it’s always a privilege and honor to be able to use it to help other people. I was moved to be a part of this event, and I want to make sure others know about it and the good it is providing.
