Two weeks ago during the 2009 Frys.com Open, I was invited to speak on Wednesday afternoon at a Fry’s Electronics luncheon. Brandel Chamblee, one of the best golf analysts on the Golf Channel (and a former tour player himself), was the host of the event. Brandel and I are great friends and go way back, so it was fun to be a part of the event. Prior to me getting on stage, Brandel had a chance to sit down and chat with PGA Tour veteran and good buddy of mine, Tom Pernice Jr., as well as young golf phenom, Rickie Fowler. He discussed some of the politics on Tour with Tom, and talked with Rickie about his extremely fast start on Tour with a T-7 at his first official PGA TOUR event as a pro a few weeks ago at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.
After their chat, Brandel called me on stage to talk a little bit about my career and some of the nuances of golf’s short game. I spent about 5 minutes on stage reminiscing with Brandel, and I had a great time. I want to thank Fry’s Electronics for hosting such a wonderful event and for allowing me to be a part of the whole experience.
I’ve added a short clip covering a small part of my time on stage with Brandel. This particular clip describes how my career as a short game teacher really began. It’s a true story, too!
